PHILIPPINE SEA (March 11, 2019) Navigation officer, Lt. Jordan Yuson, stands watch inside the combat information center (CIC) as the Avenger-class mine countermeasures ship USS Pioneer’s (MCM 9) evaluator as the ship conducts mine hunting exercises. Pioneer, part of Mine Countermeasure Squadron 7, is operating in the 7th Fleet area of operations to enhance interoperability with partners and serve as a ready-response platform for contingency operations.
