Charitable and other Societies. These are, theSouth Carolina, Mount Sion, Library, and St. Ceciliasocieties—a society for the relief of the widows and or-phans of clergymen—a Musical society, &c. Indians. The Catawbas are the only nation of Indiansin this state. Religion. The religious denominations of this state,as to numbers, maybe ranked as follows: Presbyterians,including the Congregational and Independent churches,Episcopalians, Baptists, Methodists, Roman Catholics,&c.
