Thecast steel journal boxes, secured at eitherend of tlie side frame with IJ/^-in. box bolts,are also tied at the bottom by Ji x 6 box tie bars, upon which rest two■4-in. shims which may be transferred tothe top of the box. The bolster opening at the center ofthe side frame is 17 ins. high and 20 , the width being reduced to 17 the bolster guides.
