MANY forms of scheduling and routing systems havebeen developed and successfully installed in locomo-tive repair shops but, to date, very little has beenoffered as a guide for applying these principles to car re-pairs, either passenger or freight. Fundamentally, such sys-tems are very similar in outline and application and thereis no valid reason for assuming that a system which hasgreatly benefited a locomotive repair shop will not giveequally good results in a car repair shop. The quality oflabor employed and the quantity of cars repaired automatic-ally induce systematic operating methods.
