5TH FLEET AREA OF OPERATIONS – Cpl. Elijah Bias, an assistant patrol leader with Company A., 1st Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit’s Ground Combat Element, has fellow Marines pin him to the rank of corporal during a company formation, Nov. 1, 2017. The 15th MEU is deployed in the 5th Fleet area of operations in support of maritime security operations designed to reassure allies and partners, and preserve the freedom of navigation and the free flow of commerce in the region.
