I. 1922, was born March 5, 1893,in Salem, Fremont Co., Idaho, a sonof Hans Madsen and Martha J. Soren-sen. He was baptized June 28, 1901,ordained a Deacon March 5, 1905, byBishop James H. Gardner, ordaineda Teacher Dec. 2, 1907, by Wm. and ordained a Priest Feb. 10, 1908, by Bishop James H. Gard-ner. These ordinations occurred inthe Lehi 2nd Ward of the AlpineStake. During the World war, he. went over seas with the 362nd In-fantry of the 91st Division, arrivingat the front in time for the first dis-tinctive American drive at St. Mihieland later in the Argonne and in Flan-ders with the French armies undercommand of King Albert of Belgium,who personally decorated the colorsof the 362nd Infantry on the occasionof his triumphal re-entry of one of the trustees of the 362nd In-fantry Association, organized inFrance before the regiment returnedhome, he presented to the State ofUtah on the occasion of Utahs offi-cial Welcome Home to all of its sol-diers, Oct. 8, 1919, in the Salt LakeTabernacle, the colors of the regimentwhich were accepted by GovernorBamberger in behalf of the State ofUtah, who promised they would bepreserved as an honored symbol ofthe service rendered by this regiment,which had in it the
