Dwarf beech (Fagus sylvatica Tortuosa) tree. The dwarf beech, also known as the twisted beech or parasol beech, is a rare cultivar group (Tortuosa Group) of the European beech (Fagus sylvatica). It has distinctive twisted and contorted branches with a short and twisted trunk, and grows more in width than height, rarely reaching more than 15 metres.
