Prince Ferdinand Philippe of Orléans (1810-1842) - This old engraving shows the scene immediately after the accident leading to the death of the Duke of Orleans in France after leaping from a runaway carriage. Passers-by carry him unconscious to a nearby grocers. It is said he fractured his skull after leaping from his open carriage when the horses bolted. (1842 illustration).
