After an inteiru])tion,it reajipearsin a series of 3 sjiines on middle of back. A single spine between dorsal lins. Pec-toral hooks very weakly and iiregnlarly developed. They are usually interradial inposition, have at most 3 or 4 in a series, and develop , the s])inc8 beingsometimes directed backwards instead of inwards. They are not arranged in definitelengthwise series. Some of them renuiin permanently in an undevelojxd eoiuliti(mas elongate soft papilbe, and the gaps in the series indicate the total disappearanceof others. Report U. S- F. C. 1893. Anterior profileconvex opposite the orbits, strongly concave both in front of and behind this space deeply concave, the cranial cartilage apparently thin and , 31-31. Claspers very long and slender, dilated distally, everywhere so readilyflexible as to be easily bent at an acute angle. A wide lateral Ibid along either sideof tail. Dorsals verj^ high and near together; caudal fold but little higher than thelateral ones, with which it becomes conflueut at tip of tail.
