This rockwas a miniature fortress to this afterwards the survivors rememberingthis friendly boulder, located it and utilizedit as a lasting monument to the memoryof those who fell almost within its side of the boulder was chiseled smoothand an appropriate inscription placedthereon, and thus it stands to-day a monu-ment reared by nature and making one ofthe oddest and most effective monumentson the SOTH MASSACHUSETTS INKANTKV.
