Color: Deep blue to dark green above; sides silvery, the scales tipped with blue or green ; belly silvery ; base of pectoral bright blue; fins colorless except that the rays are dark on the dorsal and caudal. Distribution: A schooling fish of the open ocean found from Lower California to Alaska and south off Asia to Japan. Fishing Season: Not the object of a fishery at the present time. Importance: None. A small amount was canned experimentally at Monterey in Fishing Gear: Occasionally taken in round haul nets. 1947.
