Pedestrians walk over Shibuya Crossing in central Tokyo. On June 30, 2022 Japanese Health, Labor and Welfare Minister Shigeyuki Goto announced the government’s revised position on mask-wearing: “Even if you pass by other people outdoors, such as while walking to work, it is not necessary to wear a face mask as long as there is little or no conversation.”. Basically saying that wearing a face mask outside isn’t recommended anymore.
