SAN DIEGO (March 31, 2017) Chief Hull Maintenance Technician Justin Rodriguez, the youngest chief, Command Master Chief Francisco Valdovinos, and Chief Culinary Specialist Daniel Johnson, the oldest chief, assigned to amphibious assault ship USS Boxer (LHD 4), cut a cake during a ceremony honoring the anniversary of the creation of the rank of chief petty officer. April 1, 2017 marks the 124th anniversary of the rank. Boxer is currently undergoing a phased maintenance availability.
