GRADE SHORTHORN—"A TYPICAL DUAL PURPOSE COW year the cow produced her best record the major portion of her feed was roughage and but little grain was fed. The picture (page 283) shows her when eight years old. The best record made by any cow on the College Farm was by a grade Shorthorn. She gave 1,251 pounds of milk in one month and 66 pounds of butter. For a year her best record was 8,859 pounds of milk and 424 pounds of butter.
