As no one else seemed disposed toreport on it, however, he had to make the official re-port on it himself, and the Chief of Bureau of Ord-nance accepted it, and began to consider seriously theadoption of the system in the Nav}^ In Alay, 1894,Lieutenant Fiske made a still more extraordinaryrecord with his invention, and proved so conclusivelythat it abolished the principal error in Naval gun-nery, that the Department shortly after adopted it forthe service.
