Beneath this mountain Is a cave 80 feet in diameter and60 feet high, brilliantly lighted by electricity, where during thewhole six months of the Exposition the experiment is In progressto see whether or not plants will grow as well under electric lightas under sunliglit. Throughout the many months that intervene 194 HORTICULTURE. between the completion of this building and the opening of theFair a magnificent and continuous floral exhibit was made in theHorticultural Building and in the Greenhouses adjoining; but thisexhibit of the past is dwarfed by the horticultural and floriculturaldisplay that fills every nook and corner of the building since theUme of the opening of the Fair. The Horticultural Building indicates its own purpose more ac-curately than any other structure on the grounds except the ForestryBuilding.
