BY MARK Once there was a good little boy by the name of Jacob Blivens. He always obeyedhis parents, no matter how absurd and unreasonable their demands were; and he al-ways learned his book, and never was late at Sabbath-school. He would not playhookey, even when his sober judgment told him it was the most profitable thing hecould do. None of the other boys could ever make that boy out, he acted so wouldnt lie, no matter how convenient itwas. He just said it was wrong to lie, andthat was sufficient for him. And he was sohonest that he was simply ridiculous. Thecurious ways that Jacob had surpassed eveiything. He wouldnt play at marbles on Sun-day, he wouldnt rob birds nests, he wouldntgive hot pennies to organ-grinders monkeys ;he didnt seem to take any interest in anykind of rational amusement. So the otherboys used to try to reason it out, and come toan understanding of him, but they couldnt ar-rive at any satisfactory conclusion; as I said
