Head of a Woman in Jerusalem. While visiting Jerusalem, Henry Ossawa Tanner painted portraits of the local people and used them for figures in his religious paintings. Tanner worked with an almost dry paintbrush to create the rough texture in this painting, a technique he used in other works.
