( x 14 cm), Paintings, Donato de' Bardi (Italian, Lombard, active by 1426–died 1450/51), Exquisite in facture and delicate in expression, this is the earliest known work by Donato de' Bardi. It is possible that it was painted in Pavia (south of Milan), where Donato would have known the great miniaturist Michelino da Besozzo and where he would have encountered French illuminations
