Third Group.—A third group was made in order to obtainlighter shades of the red-violet color. Since F 4 seemed to holdthe color so persistently and showed a fair range of temperature,it was selected as the starting point. Tighter shades can beproduced by blending F 4 with a similar glaze but containingno cobalt oxide. The first problem to solve was to produce sucha glaze having the same heat range and fusibility as F 4. Inorder to save time it was decided to make a triaxial group (Chart.
