The old restored waterwheel, Noria de Aceña near Cuevas de San Marcos on the banks of the river Genil in Andalucia, Spain. It is thought to date back to the final quarter of the 18th century. The original wooden wheel was replaced by its present-day iron counterpart in the 20th century, befor the civil war. The structure was designed for two purposes: to be a mill (of which remains can still be found) and to control irrigation by raising the level of the water in the river.
