Bathing Belle Sculpture by Craig Knowles, North Bay, Scarborough

The Bathing Belle sculpture by Craig Knowles was commissioned by the Civic Society to celebrate Scarborough's connection with bathing and changes in society. The post/steel girder represents the restraints on women's behaviour in Victorian times. The swimmer is pictured stepping down from a bathing machine in late 19th century swimming costume.
