The Dewailly Clock (Horloge Dewailly) by Emile Ricquier and statue of Naked Mary (Marie-Sans Chemise) by Albert Roze in Amiens (Somme), France
It was the former mayor of Amiens Louis Dewailly who bequeathed a large sum of money in 1892 to have a clock built. With the invention of the train, it was intended to tell the time to people from Amiens who did not have a watch, so that they would not miss their train. The design of this clock was entrusted to the architect Émile Ricquier and Albert Roze, sculptor. The work took a lot of delay, it was finally inaugurated on November 17, 1898. Because of the design of the clock which houses a statue of an undressed woman, the inhabitants of Amiens called this statue Marie-sans-Chemise (Naked Mary). The one we see today is partly reconstructed, the only element of origin being the statue of Marie-sans-chemise.
