The Dry Gulch fault zone of Grand County, Utah about thirty miles west-southwest of Grand Junction, Colorado.

Hoodoos carved from soft, crumbly Chinle Formation mudstone (deep-red layer, roadbed to near photo center) capped by slightly-less-resistant Wingate Formation sandstone at the northwest tip of the Uncompahgre uplift in extreme eastern Utah. The Colorado Plateau lies in the distance of this westerly-looking photo.
