In acknowledgment of theheroism displayed during- these trying times, the ladies of the EighteenthWard presented Lexington Engine Company No. 7 with a handsome Ameri-can Hag embroidered with the name and number of the compairy. It was used in those days by one John Harpendinck. Little wasknown of the company till 1783, when they were reorganized with Herbert as Treasurer. Other foremen were Henry Riker (17S3), John Post,David Morris (1793) and Thomas Browne (1796). In 1783 the companyconsisted of twenty-three men. In 1793 Abraham Brevoort was assistant foreman, and on Morriss retire-ment Brevoort assumed the foremanship.
