Pentacene imaging, IBM research. Scanning tunnelling-atomic force microscope used by IBM researchers to image the chemical structure of a pentacene molecule (five linearly-fused benzene rings) with atomic resolution. This work was carried out by Leo Gross, Fabian Mohn, Nikolaj Moll, and Gerhard Meyer, with the results published in the 28 August 2009 issue of Science magazine. Photographed in August 2009, at IBM Research-Zurich, Switzerland.
