Commonwealth War Graves Commission Kranji Memorial cemetery monument Singapore


Singapore - August 14, 2015: A view of the Cross of Sacrifice and the Singapore Memorial located at the Kranji War Memorial and Cemetery, Singapore managed by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission. The memorial contains the names of almost 24,500 soldiers and airmen from commonwealth countries, including India, Pakistan, Australia, who fought during the Singapore / Malaya campaign of World War Two for whom there are no known graves. Approx. 4,700 soldiers are also buried on the grounds in the nearby cemetery. Prior to World War Two the area was the site of an ammunition dump.
