Construction of new Victoria Bridge, Brisbane, August 1967. As early as 1943 the third Victoria bridge, built in 1897, was showing signs of cracking. The fourth (current) bridge opened in April 1969 and the steel bridge was demolished, apart from a portion of the southern abutment and pedestrian arch.
