Landakotskirkja (Landakot's Church), concrete Catholic church with metal statue by Steinunn Thorarinsdottir

Landakotskirkja (Landakot's Church), formally named Basilika Krists konungs (The Basilica of Christ the King), is the cathedral of the Catholic Church in Iceland. It is often referred to as Kristskirkja ("Christ's Church"). Located in Reykjavik, it has a distinctively flat top, as opposed to the standard spire and is constructed of concrete and the style is referred to as neo-gothic. Its architect is Guðjón Samúelsson, who also built the famous Hallgrímskirkja and the Akureyrarkirkja in Akureyri. A statue by sculptor Steinunn Thorarinsdottir sits beside the church.
