In this division the proportionof 25 people per telephone was next to the lowest, theWestern division showing only 21; the messages percapita were the greatest, being 90; and the messagesper telephone were third in rank, numbering 2,242,while the South Central division reported 3,015 andthe South Atlantic 2,467. The Western divisionshowed actually and relatively less population andless traffic than any other.
