This proved a success far be- yond his expectations and has encour- aged him to plant a much larger num- ber this year, which he has already done, expecting them to bring him in good prices for Memorial day. He finds that the bulbs grow to perfection here and that most of them measure four inches across, with no fertilizer, little cultivation and no irrigation. On 500 violet plants set out in Sep- tepiber, Mr. White has picked 20,000 blossoms and they are still blooming and were only cultivated twice. He grows the singles for northern markets. Outdoor roses bloom here almost con- tinuously the year around. This is a great place also for watermelons; car- loads of the finest melons are shipped to the north. The soil and climate are the best of their kind for most varieties of garden truck and flowers, as the location is almost on the north Florida line. Strawberries are in full bloom, with many half-grown berries showing on the vines. A big acreage of water- melons will be planted this year.
