The condi-tion was diagnosed as pyogenic arthritis,but examination of the other knee re-vealed the same condition with the ex-ception that the patella appearedsmooth. This irregular appearance ofthe patella at the tendinous attachmentof the patella has been observed mthree such cases, it probably was th;etiological factor in the arthritis inthese instances.
