1st Armored Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division, receives the modernized M1A2 SEPv3 Abrams tank at Fort Stewart, Georgia, Jan. 5, 2023. In addition to having improved survivability, the M1A2 SEPv3 Abrams tank can host mature technology the Army deems operationally relevant. Improvements focus on increasing the electrical power margin, vehicle health management systems, integrated counter-IED protection, a new auxiliary power unit enabling silent watch, embedded training, and an ammunition data link.
