A 15th Century engraving of Pope Leo I, also known as leo the Great, who was pontiff from AD440 to AD461. He was the 45th pope. His greatest achievement was persuading Attila the Hun to pull back from sacking Rome. The engraving is from the Nuremburg Chronicles.
