The collection of genealogies andNew England local histories, though not endowed, deserves especialmention because it is unusually extensive and is in constant useby genealogists, members of patriotic societies, and historical stu-dents. In the building are deposited also the collections of theConnecticut Valley Historical society. Besides the commoner bibliographical aids the library owns thegreat card index issued by the Concilium Bibliographicum at Zurich, which catalogues all the literature of zoology and allied subjects—?both books and periodical articles, English and foreign—issued.
