Montreal, Aug. 22.—Again the incon-sistent position of the market has beenshown, some changes exactly the re-verse of those which might havebeen expected, having taken place. Thereseems little use in massing facts and en-deavoring to draw conclusions fromthese. The facts are available all right,but the obvious conclusion to whichthese lead invariably seems to be wrong. Business in metals is generally good—exceedingly good. There is a scarcityin some lines which is causing some em-barrassment locally, but on the wholeconditions are satisfactory.
