Department of Agriculture (USDA) Secretary Sonny Perdue meets the Senate Agriculture Majority Committee intern Laila Carter in the Whitten Building, April 10, 2018. Laila Carter is a sophomore K-State Food Science major. Last fall she interned with the winemaker at Wolffer Estates Vineyard in New York. She spent the winter assisting with research at K-State Olathe's Bioscience lab. She loves chemistry, nutrition, and business and hopes to gain a greater understanding of ag policy through this internship.
