The Charlatan 1755, by Giandomenico Tiepolo, 1727-1804. Oil on canvas. The Charlatan (The Tooth-Puller) shows a public spectacle in which, all classes of Venetian society took part. The performance of the charlatan, entertained the public with buffoonery, tricks, and musical interludes, was part of Venice's Carnival.
