Bagno di Mezzagnone, arabic thermal bath. Santa Croce Camerina, Sicily
The Mezzagnone Baths represent a splendid Ragusa archaeological jewel. On the basis of the most recent excavations it was determined that its construction dates back to the period of the occupation of the Goths between the fifth and sixth centuries. and its function was probably funerary dedicated to a noble or goto to a noble family. During the Saracen domination these structures were converted into Arabic hammam (spa baths), in fact, inside were found under the decking, pipes for water that have allowed us to determine the various different types of temperature environments. Restored after the excavations, the hammam is now closed to the public.
