As, however, any dis-cussion of the latter involves vexed questionsas to collaborators, we will consider them inour next chapter, when dealing with the firstpupils whom the masters fame attracted to his studio. In-defatigable as was Rembrandt, and jealously as he guardedthe time he desired to consecrate wholly to his art, we cannotbut marvel that such an extraordinary mass of work shouldhave been accomplished by one man.
