Hōkoku-ji is a Zen temple of the Rinzai sect located in Kamakura, Kanagawa prefecture in Japan. Established in 1334, the temple is also called "Take-dera (Bamboo temple) " for its garden of approximately 2000 bamboo trees. Hokoku-ji was one the family temple of both the Ashikaga and Uesugi clans.
