Winster Ford, Cumbria, England, where motorists can cross the River Winster. A stone bridge is available for pedestrians
Winster Ford & Stone Bridge, provides a crossing through the river for motorists whilst the stone bridge, made from four small pillars and large flat slate slabs forming the deck, positioned on the downstream side of the ford, is available for pedestrians, over the River Winster at Bowland Bridge, near to Winster Village and Witherslack, Cumbria, England, United Kingdom. The ford and bridge are located in an isolated, tranquil and peaceful area, on a small picturesque country lane leading from Winster Village to Bowland Bridge. A metal depth gauge which measures up to six feet deep is positioned in the river and warns motorists of the depth of the water. The marker suggests that the bridge would be covered at the four foot mark making both bridge and ford impassable. The area is popular with hikers and ramblers who come to enjoy the counryside and wildlife.
