The Nootkacedar (C%. Nooikaen-sis) is the finest andhardiest species of thisgenus. It is of a slen-der, graceful habit,with short archingbranches and imbri-cated foliage, some-times bright green,sometimes are several varieties of this species. The Japanesecedar (Ch. obtusd), which grows into a tree a hundred feethigh, is (piite common in gardens. The branches are slen-der, with ample, feathery sprays, and scale-like, adpressedleaves.
