The same day we were on a reeoiinoissance across West (hickamaugariver. On the 18th the Colonel commanding made a reconnoissance witiimy regiment to the vicinity of Crawfish Springs, where we were left on de-tached picket duty till tlu a. m. of the 14th. In the \\ .m. of the same daywe were out again on the LaFayette mail. The ;th and IHth were inutlyspent in making barricades along the north ])ankof the West OPD YCKE TIGERS, At night we were ordered to be ready to inarch at daylight with sixtyrounds of ammunition to each man.
