The disease may be acute or chronic, the acute cases recoveringin a few days. The chronic cases may persist for weeks, often lead-ing to increase in the connective tissue, producing muscular stiffnessand contractures. DIAGNOSIS.—The diagnosis is to be made from pleurisy by theabsence of physical signs and by the pain and muscular tender
