Human eye, close-up infrared image. This is the right-hand eye of a 24-year-old man. Infrared lighting can be used to visualize subcutaneous structures (those below the surface of the skin) that are not visible in normal lighting. These structures include superficial veins. Other applications of infrared imaging include recording the ocular surface temperature (OST), and tracking eye movements.
