This Metal Melting Furnacehas been found to be very efficient andeconomical in melting metals particu-larly brasses and bronzes. It is madeby the Lunkenheimer Company, ofCincinnati, Ohio. The interior of the drumis lined with fireproof tile, and there aretwo openings on opposite sides of thedrum. Only one of these openings isin use, the other being closed by afire-clay filling. The object of havingtwo openings is to increase the life ofthe linings of the furnace as a furnacewears out quicker around the fillinghole which also deserves an outlet forthe flame than it does elsewhere. The oil burner is of a special type, designed to give the greatest amountof heat with a minimum consumptionof oil. These furnaces are able to se-cure from six to seven heats per work-ing day of ten hours from each fur-nace. The weight of each heat willaverage about five hundred and fiftypounds, and the oil consumption .Alt
