A view c. 1960 over the boating lake at Northstead Manor Gardens (also known as Scarborough Pleasure Park), Scarborough, North Yorkshire, England, UK. Beyond is Scarborough Open Air Theatre, an outdoor theatre built in 1932. The seating is on the right, the stage centre left. On the left, hidden by the tree, is an area (cordoned off by floats) where the Water Chute entered the lake. This image is from an old black and white negative – a vintage 1950s/60s photograph.

It closed in 1986 but was reopened in 2010. The part of the lake between the stage and seating has now been filled in and provides additional audience capacity. On the left, hidden by the tree, is an area (cordoned off by floats) where the Water Chute entered the lake. It too opened in 1932 and, benefiting from the regeneration of the area, was restored and reopened in 2008. It is now owned by North Bay Railway.
