A man watching the flooding in Bang Khae, Bangkok.

Monsoon rain was the cause of the worst flooding in Thailand for 50 years. The death toll reached more than 675 people, and leaving hundreds of thousands ill. Supply of aid, and the damage to property and businesses cost billions of US dollars. Yingluck Shinawatra got a rough start as Thailand´s first female prime minister, facing endless challenges due to the flooding who started late july 2011 and hit at least 58 of Thailand´s 76 provinces.
