Friuli Venezia Giulia, Italy. Mount San Michele. The entrance of the 'Schonburgtunnel', one of the main defensive works of the Austro-Hungarian army. The tunnel went from one versant of the hill to the opposite one. It was a shelter for the Austro-Hungarian soldiers, and a reserve's safe way to the front line. At the other entrance there was a machine-gun that defended the territory from Cima 2 to Cima 3.
